Personalised Children's Storybooks — Your Child Stars in Their Own Chocolate Adventure

Imagine your child opening a real printed book and finding themselves on every page. Their name, their face, their adventure — through a chocolate factory, solving puzzles, discovering secrets, and saving the day. Not a generic template with a name swapped in, but a properly crafted story with a character designed to look like your child.

At Mayan Monkey in Mijas Pueblo, we make these books in-house at our chocolate factory. Each one is personalised — the child's name woven into the narrative, and a character customised with their hair colour, skin tone, and whether they wear glasses. The book is printed, bound, and handed to your child as part of their workshop experience.

How It Works

When you book a Superhero's Chocolate Adventure or Mayas and Messy Monkeys experience, you give us your child's details — name, appearance, and a few personal touches. Before the workshop begins, our team creates the book right here in the factory. By the time your child sits down to start making chocolate, their storybook is ready and waiting.

The book isn't a thin pamphlet or a printed sheet. It's a proper storybook — full colour, illustrated pages, with a narrative that takes your child on a journey through the world of chocolate. They discover where cacao comes from, meet characters along the way, and ultimately become the hero who saves the chocolate factory.

The Superhero's Chocolate Adventure (€89.95 adult / €109.95 child)

Your child is cast as a superhero on a mission. The personalised storybook sets up the adventure, and then it comes to life in the workshop:

• Science experiments: What happens when you heat cacao to different temperatures? Why does chocolate snap? Children discover the science behind their favourite sweet through hands-on experiments.
• Treasure hunt: Clues hidden around the factory lead your child on a quest — past the tempering machines, through the moulding room, and to a final reward. Each clue teaches them something about how chocolate is made.
• Chocolate making: Layered chocolate masterpieces created by your child — not just sprinkled toppings, but proper techniques with real chocolate.
• The storybook: A personalised keepsake they'll read again and again at home.

Mayas and Messy Monkeys (€99.95 adult / €119.95 child)

Our ultimate family experience includes everything — and the personalised storybook is the centrepiece:

• Chocolate bars, bonbons, truffles, and dipped fruits
• Chocolate face painting (yes, really)
• A treasure hunt through the factory
• A personalised storybook starring your child

It's the most comprehensive experience we offer for families, and the storybook ties it all together — your child's adventure in print, matched by their adventure in real life.

Why Personalised Books Matter

Children light up when they see their own name in a story. It's not vanity — it's engagement. Research consistently shows that personalised books increase children's interest in reading, improve comprehension, and create positive associations with stories. When a child is the hero, they're invested in every page.

But beyond the reading benefits, these books become keepsakes. Parents tell us their children bring the book to school for show-and-tell. Grandparents frame pages. The book sits on the bedside table for months. It's a physical reminder of a special experience — something a photo on a phone can't quite match.

Made In-House, Not Mass-Produced

We don't outsource the books to a printing company. They're created and produced right here in our factory in Mijas Pueblo. This means we can customise each one properly — not just the name, but the character's appearance, and we can adjust details to make it feel genuinely personal.

The quality is real — proper paper, full-colour printing, and a finish that holds up to being read hundreds of times (because it will be).

Perfect as a Gift

Many grandparents and family members book the Superhero or Mayas experience specifically because of the storybook — it also makes a fantastic birthday party activity. It's a unique gift — an experience and a keepsake combined. The child gets a morning of chocolate making, treasure hunting, and adventure, plus a book they'll treasure. Try finding that on Amazon.
